   Hello Professor Jon Beasley-Murray,
   To start, I am not one of your students. I’m just a stranger who found your YouTube channel while looking for college-level lectures on Clarice Lispector! Since finding your lecture on the Passion According to G.H, I’ve watched them all and taken notes! I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, last year, where I specialized in postmodernism and critical theory, and I am hoping to apply to schools next winter for a PhD.

   With all that being said, your channel, which you’ve made accessible to the public, has quite literally brought a light back into my life. Learning has and always will be something special to me and is a part of who I am fundamentally. After graduating, I was somewhat lost without the guardrails and explanations from professors on books or theories. I had been trying to make do with reading JSTOR articles on the books I had been reading, but I was missing the lecture of it all. Your videos opened up past memories of classes I had taken before, and redefined ideas and theories I’d written about before. But, most importantly, your lectures helped give me the courage to keep reading and to keep trying to understand literature outside the classroom. Returning day after day to watch your lectures gave me that structure I felt so strange without. And I honestly believe my daily routine of watching your lectures, taking notes, and close-reading has kept me on the right track to apply in the Winter for a PhD Program.
