I was captivated by this reading from the very first paragraph, instantly drawn into Ana’s complex but intriguing life. The brilliance of the plot, centered around a deceased protagonist, resonated with my love for narratives like “The Lovely Bones,” where the protagonist narrates how she got murdered. However, unlike the YA genre of “The Lovely […]

The Shrouded Woman draws in readers with its poetic, symbolically rich narrative, which can present an initial struggle to understand but eventually transforms into a beautiful journey, particularly when read in Spanish, where the unique characteristics of the language offer another layer to the story. Love Journey Ana Maria’s romantic journey unfolds as a touching […]

‘The Shrouded Woman’ by María Luisa Bombal was an amazing read. I really enjoyed this text as I felt like I was so interested in her perspective. I found it so unique and capturing that she sees herself buried. Narrating from this view made this novel made it more impactful in a way as she looks back at her life. “The Shrouded Woman” is definitely my favourite book so far. I absolutely love the way it was written. In her death, Ana Maria showed us her life through her memories. Out of all the characters Ana Maria interacted with, I was most struck by Maria Griselda. How Maria explained that her beauty was a curse, […]

I believe “The Shrouded Woman” is a very captivating book. I must admit that I was completely drawn into this world shortly after starting to read it. The beginning of the novel is very engaging, even though Ana María is already deceased and lying in a coffin, she can still hear and see those mourning […]
